Hornets Announce Community and Fan-Focused Multiyear Partnership With Belk
Charlotte-Based Retailer Becomes First-Ever Entitlement Partner of Spectrum Center’s Main Concourse
April 8, 2025 – Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) today announced a wide-ranging multiyear partnership with Belk under which the Charlotte-based retailer becomes the first-ever entitlement partner of Spectrum Center’s Main Concourse, as well as the entitlement partner of the arena’s new Light Rail Entrance.
“We’re excited to enter such a robust agreement with a homegrown partner like Belk,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment President of Business Operations Shelly Cayette-Weston. “Our two organizations are aligned in a number of ways, including our commitments to providing the best customer experiences and giving back to the community. It’s especially poignant that Belk was founded in 1888 – exactly 100 years before the Hornets – and that both our brands made Charlotte their official homes in 1988, with Belk serving as a longtime partner of the original Hornets. We are focused on connecting with our rich history while embracing the energy and momentum of the future. We look forward to welcoming them back to our Hornets family and seeing the Belk name proudly displayed throughout Spectrum Center.”
The Main Concourse and Light Rail Entrance entitlements will connect Belk with the team’s passionate fans for all Hornets games as well as every concert and event at Spectrum Center. Belk also becomes the presenting partner of the Lil’ Stingers entertainment team and the Hornets Fan Shop Item of the Game. The partnership also includes a wide range of integrated signage and advertising during Hornets broadcasts on FanDuel Sports Network Southeast.
“This first-of-its-kind partnership between Belk and Hornets Sports & Entertainment reunites two of Charlotte’s most beloved hometown brands,” said Don Hendricks, CEO of Belk. “We’re looking forward to elevating the experience for Hornets fans who visit Spectrum Center, while also creating a lasting impact on the broader Charlotte community for years to come.”
As part of the agreement, the Hornets and Belk will team up for a variety of programs and initiatives throughout the year, including an annual “Project Hometown” event focused on an area of need within the Charlotte community.
To tip off the partnership, all fans who purchase the Hornets Fan Shop Item of the Game Presented by Belk during the Hornets’ game tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies will receive a co-branded Hornets and Belk bag.
